Girls Antrim Hockey Blitz

28th Jan 2019

Today a team of 7 girls from P7 and P6 went to Antrim Forum, where the sun was shining, to play in a mini hockey tournament. It was the first time they had played together as a team and it was also their first tournament. Everyone was very excited to get stuck in and play...and it was that they did. As this was their first tournament we were going along to get match practice, learn to space out and play on a larger sized pitch, get experience of playing on Astro turf and get to know what positions we were suited to and of course to have fun!!!

The girls did Mrs Gage and their school proud. They played a total of 4 matches, drawing two and losing two against very strong sides. Amy Reynolds in goals saved some amazing shots, Keely and Emma in defence made great clears and tackles. Amelie and Katie were strong in midfield making good runs and not giving up and Gracie and Naomi ran ragged chasing up every ball and fighting hard to get it into the back of the net. We have learnt a lot from our day that we can take forward into our next tournament come end of Feb/March time. We are looking forward to it already and are hoping that our brand new schools hockey kit will be ready for us to play in!

Thank you kindly to all parents who were able to have their girls ready with kit etc at very short notice.

Mrs Gage
