What’s in a Name?πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

3rd May 2020

Article 7

Children have a right to be registered at birth...to have a name...🀱

Hello at the beginning of another week and another article. We are going to think about our names.

Have a chat with your family. Who decided on your name? Are you named after a family member? Do you have a nickname?

Although we don’t think about our name often, our name is a very important part of our identity. We have a right to be recognised by our name. Adults should not deny any child the right to be called by their name. Sometimes, perhaps in war or refugee situations, children can become very upset when they are called by the wrong name or their name is misspelt.

Let’s complete some activities related to this article.

FS- Can you make a name plate for your room? Write your name in a piece of paper and decorate around it.

KS1- Make an identity picture. Draw a labelled picture of yourself on a piece of paper. Decorate around it with drawings of some things that represent your hobbies or interests and your family members.

KS2 - Do some research! What does your name mean? What were the most popular names the year you were born? Can you name some famous people who share your name?

Good work children! πŸ‘« Thank you for carrying on our RRS work. Please feel free to post on your class web page any work you would like to share!
