Tongue Twister Benefits

10th Jun 2022

I have been working on tongue twisters with some of the children who come out to me for support! We have lots of giggles as we try not to get our tongues in a twist. 😂

The children think we are just having a bit of fun but there's actually a bit more to it than that. Tongue twisters are a literacy workout. They challenge our ability to enunciate the sounds in words so that we don't trip over them. Not only are they great for strengthening and stretching the muscles which we use for speech but they have also been proven to increase vocabulary and improve reading skills.

I've attached a few pages with well known Tongue Twisters for you and your family to try at home. I hope you have lots of fun!
