Senior Cup Finals ⚽️

18th Apr 2024

Wednesday 17th April saw the boys competitive football season come to an end with the Senior Cup Finals.

After qualifying top of their group in the previous round of the competition, the team faced a tough Ballykeel PS team in the semi-final. The game was very competitive with chances for both team, Camphill defended their goal with determination and teamwork to ensure Ballykeel didn’t score, which they didn’t. The game ended 0-0 and, after 5 further minutes of extra-time, went to penalties. After the first set of 3 penalties were scored, it then went to sudden death, which unfortunately saw us lose the game.

On to our Plate Final against Fourtowns PS. We started the game with great confidence and pushed numbers forward to try to take the lead. Unfortunately, this left us outnumbered in defence and, after an excellent save from Jack, Fourtowns took the lead with the rebound. We managed to get it back to 1-1 in the second half, with a goal from Josh and again this game ended in a draw, this time going straight to penalties. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be our day with penalties and we lost the shootout 3-1.

The boys were fantastic throughout the day but devastated at the end. They should hold their heads high having produced some excellent football throughout the year and bringing home two runners up trophies in the process.

Well done to everyone who has played throughout the year 😊⚽️
