School Council visit the Mayor’s Parlour
On Monday 2nd March our School Council representatives travelled to The Braid to visit the Mayor’s Parlour. This visit was arranged as part of Democracy Week by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
The pupils met the Mayor and had juice and biscuits with him whilst hearing about his job role. They then had the opportunity to ask the Mayor some questions, he said he was very impressed with the choice of questions put to him.
We then had the chance to go and sit in the Council Chambers and have a real life debate! Evie, our Chairperson, presided over the debates about homework and an extended school day!
Finally, we left with some amazing goodie bags! A huge thank-you to the Mayor’s office for the opportunity to go along today and see how government offices work and operate.
