Primary 7 BC practice their pencil techniques

22nd Sep 2020

Our topic this term is 'Natural Disasters' and today P7BC began the planning stages of their volcanic pencil drawings. Mr Clarke talked through a variety of techniques to help with shading and shaping the pictures. We looked at cross hatching, creating tone and shade, blurring and highlighting. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed this. We looked at several videos of artists creating pencil drawings of volcanoes erupting. As a class we discussed what techniques each artist had used, to bring their picture to life. To practice their skills the students were given the challenge of drawing an apple using the various pencil techniques they had learned throughout the afternoon. Primary 7BC have many budding artists! We look forward to sharing their art in the coming weeks.
