P7RA Class Charter

13th Feb 2019

Earlier in the year, we all discussed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and picked out the ones which we felt were most appropriate for our classroom. We then made a Class Charter and arranged our photographs around the rights to signify that we agree with the operation of the charter within our room. A notice on the door lets all visitors know that we are a 'Rights Respecting Classroom' and that they are expected to adhere to our charter whilst present.

Our talent for design was shown when members of our class made up the entire shortlist for the school's 'Rights Respecting Mascot', as selected by Mrs McLarnon's Rights Respecting Steering Group. After a whole school vote on the three finalists, it was Freya's 'Rights Respecting Riley' that was chosen to accompany all information on this topic around the school and is also now displayed on every child's desk! When we are discussing issues related to rights, for example the right to privacy as part of internet safety, it reminds us of all the work the RRSG (including our rep, Annie) has done and how much our school values each child within it.
