P7AS Rights Respecting Assembly

3rd Apr 2019

Today, our class led an assembly called, ‘Migration and its Benefits.’  We learned about the Rights of the Child which are related to this topic; articles 2, 4 and 6.  These included the right for the Convention to apply to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background and the right every child has to life.

We learned about the many people who have moved to our country from another country or have moved to another country from ours and the reasons why.  John and Lukas talked to us about where their families are originally from and why they moved to Northern Ireland.

We learned that we should treat those who move to our country with kindness and respect and we should appreciate the skills and talents they bring with them.
