P7AS Paint Volcanoes

15th Oct 2020

As part of our ‘Natural Disasters’ topic we have been learning about volcanoes; how they are formed, what happens when they erupt and some of the damage they can cause to the countryside around them.

We used special pencil techniques to draw volcanoes, creating light, shade and texture with our shading.  We then looked at the volcano painting by the artist Nick Rowland.  We discussed his use of colour and the techniques he used to create his well known volcano painting.

We used oil pastels and paint spattering to create our very own versions of Rowland’s work.  Have a look at P7AS artists at work!  We will post photos of our drawings and paintings when they are on display. 🌋
