P5JS Weaving Words Poem ✍️

27th Feb 2026

In line with our WAU topic, Water, Water Everywhere, we have been exploring the River Braid.

We collected a range of language to describe the River Braid’s size, colour, shape and items surrounding it.

We collated our language and knowledge to create a shared poem, ‘My River Braid’.

Next, we created a colour palette of colours we could find in images of the river. Using these, we recorded our poem and weaved them together to create beautiful pieces of work!

Have a look!

My River Braid

My River Braid, place of flowing waters in County Antrim.
Where the long, twisty river meanders through town,
Where the fawn, emerald water rolls between the rocks under Harryville Bridge,
Where the vast, yet tranquil, river is home to many species,
Where the shadows from the Winter sun are reflected brightly.
I feel mesmerised by the beauty, and privileged to call it ‘home’.
