P5JD/FG Our take on Monet!

17th Mar 2022

We have been looking at the work of Claude Monet as part of our water topic!

Claude Monet was a very famous impressionist artist! We looked at one of his very famous pantings of water lilies and we decided to try this ourselves using mixed media.

We thought about how we would create the perfect background for this style of painting. We decided to use watercolour paints as we could create the was look of the water and mix the colours appropriately. We used a pooling method and we tried to let the colours run in to one another. This was harder than it looked as we are very used to being in control of the paint!

We let the background dry and then started work on the foreground. We used oil pastels for this and we tried to show shadow using layers of different colours.

We are so pleased with how these turned out!
