P5 Shared Education Trip to Mary Queen of Peace

12th Mar 2026

We had a fantastic time today with our friends from Mary Queen of Peace! We split into 3 different groups and looked at different sports, the Irish language and water life!

One group focused on hockey and hurling. We looked at the differences between the hockey and hurling stick and the different rules in each sport. We teamed up with one of our friends from Mary Queen of Peace and had a go at passing the ball to each other. With the hurling stick we tried to put the ball into our hands using the stick! It was tricky but very fun!

Another group focused on the Irish language. We learned the Irish names for different parts, and had a go at saying an Irish chant. We also learned some very cool moves to put to the new words. We then played a game of Simon Says in Irish! We all had lots of fun learning the new words!

Finally, the last group had a look at some water life that we would find in Northern Ireland. We looked at water samples taken from different water sources and tried to identify the bugs! It was very exciting trying to figure out which each bug was!

Each group had a go at each activity before we had to go back to school! We had a great time with our friends from Mary Queen of Peace and we can’t wait to see them again soon!
