P4JC Trip to W5

18th Jun 2024

Today we went on a bus to W5 in Belfast. We had a fantastic day!

When we arrived we had our break and then it was time for our first activity which was a workshop called ‘A Little Bit of Music.’ Emma from W5 took the session and we found out lots of facts about how sounds travel in waves and how music is made. We played and listened to some instruments and then used ribbon batons to conduct along to Carnival of the Animals, a famous piece of music by Saint-Saëns. Then we were able to make our own percussion instruments using rice in an egg shaped container. Lastly we looked at some online ways to make music such as Blob Opera and Chrome Music Lab. It was great fun!

Next, we went to some of the exhibits before it was time for Climbit. We were all very brave and climbed up so high on Climbit that Miss Crawford had to go up the stairs to see us at the top! We were hungry for our lunch after all our climbing and enjoyed the rest while we ate.

After lunch we went to two more of the science exhibits where we were able to take part in pulling, pushing, building, exercising and lots more! We had a great day out and learnt lots of new facts and information. Have a look at our photos below and ask us more about what we did today!
