Summer Assessments continue this week - (see more details in Parentmail sent on Weds 22nd April) All P3 -P7 pupils will be taking Standardised Tests in Literacy and Numeracy and will be timetabled to sit these tests in the ICT Suite - please make sure your child is in school each day during this assessment period. These test scores will be issued on your child's End of Year report. | The school online uniform shop is now open until Friday 15th May for new school uniform for next academic year - Delivery is due into school wk.bg. 15th June. P4 parents your child will need to have a school PE Kit for going into P5 this is now available on the online shop.  | Calling all Primary 2 Grandparents - see information on the class webpage and via Parentmail inviting you into school on Friday 8th May. P4JC Celebrations

P4JC really enjoyed learning about our World Around Us theme 'Celebrations'.

We found out lots of new and interesting information about how we celebrate and also thought about how people from other places celebrate too.

First we learnt about Christmas and compared Christmas Celebrations from around the world. Then we looked at New Year, followed by Chinese New Year.

We were very interested to find out facts about China, its people and places, as well as some of the traditions of Chinese New Year. Do you know how long it would take to walk the whole Great Wall of China? Ask one of our class and they will tell you... (hint... If we started now, we would be in P6 before we got to the end!!) We even wrote some facts about Chinese New Year and recorded ourselves presenting them on a green screen to look like we were at the Great Wall of China!

We thought about other times we celebrate, such as Weddings, Easter, if we win something and especially our Birthdays. Some of our class shared their tradition of Name Day which we found very interesting. 

We even talked about Birthday celebrations in the past compared to how we celebrate now. 

We looked at paintings by the Artist Piet Mondrian, and used these to help us make our own mixed media Mondrian inspired Hearts for Valentine's Day. We will keep thinking about Mondrian's work to help inspire us with some activities for our next theme, Home Sweet Home.
