P3 & P4 'Allstate' Cyber Safety Session

4th Oct 2023

John and Claire from 'Allstate' came to talk to us today about Cyber Safety.

They introduced us to their Cyber Characters Sid, Sophie and Scruff the dog. We learnt to 'STOP, THINK and TELL' when we are online if we are not sure about something. We found out about how to use an online username that doesn’t have our own name in it to stay safe online. We know not to keep secrets from our grown ups about online chats and not to meet up with people we don’t know because they might not be who they say they are. It’s good to play with friends we know in real life but to remember the Stranger Danger rules matter online too so not to be talking to people we don’t know.

Next we heard about 'Beware What You Share' when online. A fun song called Who’d you share your details with? helped us to learn about keeping our details like our name, age, address, school etc private not public in apps and online. We heard about being careful when sharing photos online as strangers can find out where we are and what we are doing.

The last section was about 'Don’t Be Mean On Screen.' We talked about messages online and how they can make people feel. We should think before we post how would we feel if we got that message and thought about other ways we could say things nicely instead. We got fantastic goodie bags to take home with an activity booklet, leaflets for our adults and us as well as a pencil, sticker and wristband each!

Thank you so much to Allstate, Claire and John.
