P3SG Visit to Arthur Cottage

Today we went to Arthur Cottage in Cullybackey. We had such a great time and learned so much about life in the past.

The lady called Mary explained that the fire in the cottage was used for light, to heat water, to cook and to keep warm. We saw how the griddle was used over the fire and we got to taste some freshly made pancakes, they were delicious! 😋 Mary talked to us about the peat that was burning on the fire and how it came from the ground. We all got to hold and smell a piece of the peat!

After that we got to see Mary using a spinning wheel to spin thread. Mary let us all feel the wool from the sheep that she was using to spin into thread. It was very soft and fluffy! 

We learned so much from our visit today and how different life was in those days.
