Today we started our adding tens and ones with carrying over journey.We set up lots of practical activities and, although we are not all there yet, we are off to a flying start🙌.
We established the following facts:
We always start adding in the ones column
9 or less in the ones column we don’t need to carry over or exchange for a ten
When the numbers in the ones column add up to more than 10 , we have to exchange 10 of the ones for a tens rod
We have to be very careful to remember to add the ten we carry over
It is vital to keep all of the numbers in the correct ✅ column
And so our journey continues with this important life skill.
