P3GM - Visit to Arthur Cottage

19th Oct 2022

We have been learning about Arthur Cottage and comparing it to our own homes since the beginning of the year. We have been learning about the importance of fire and we have explored how a typical family would have lived over 200 years ago. We even drew the outside of the cottage using chalk pastels.

We really enjoyed visiting the cottage because we got to see, smell and hear about all the things we have been learning about in the classroom. We saw how small the cottage was and with no electricity, running water or modern appliances, life would have been very different indeed.

We loved watching Mary make some potato bread and then we got to sample some freshly made soda bread, potato bread or wheaten bread which had been cooked over the fire. Yum Yum!
