Maths Week Fun in P7AS!

15th Oct 2020

We celebrated Maths Week by doing lots of learning about 2D shapes this week!  Today we were sorting triangles into scalene, isosceles and equilateral groups using our knowledge about the triangle properties.  We used our rulers to measure the length of the sides on the triangles and practised some folding to investigate lines of symmetry.

We played a couple of fun games (which you will find on mathsweek.ie by clicking on games and competitions) called ‘Pig’ and ‘24’.  We enjoyed the digital and paper versions of Pig, which we played with a partner.  It’s a game of strategy and addition.  24 uses all four processes with four digits to calculate the number 24.

Have a look at us having fun with Maths and maybe have a go at the games yourselves! There are also some great programmes you can watch on the website.  As the presenter of our programme this morning said, ‘Maths Rocks!’
