Press release....

Local talented Ballymena student excels at NI Water’s School Awards Ceremony

Camphill PS pupil Lewis McCartney is simply paint-astic!

The P5 pupil recently scooped third place in his age category in the recent NI Water annual school poster competition.

NI Water launched the competition for budding artists across the country to explore the field of clean water science and create a poster that highlighted the vital work NI Water scientists do to ensure everyone has fresh, quality tap water every day.

NI Water presented Lewis and all other winners with their prizes and rounded up the day with a special tour around Moyola Water Treatment Works (WTW) to see how NI Water cleans, checks and tests water to make sure it is safe to drink.

NI Water’s Director of Customer and Operations, Stephanie McCullagh said Katherine’s entry was brush-tacular! “Congratulations to Lewis McCartney on the fantastic entry which really impressed the judges. Lewis’ submission celebrated the Science of Clean Water, and the important job NI Water scientists do to ensure we have clean, safe water on tap every day.

“There were so many fantastic entries, all of them showing a high level of creativity and knowledge of the science behind what it takes to produce clean drinking water. We hope the children and their guests enjoyed their visit to Moyola WTW to see this science in action! It was heartening to see the breadth of entries that were created for the competition, so we want to say a big thank you to all the entrants for all their hard work, and congratulations to Lewis again.”

Every year, NI Water scientists carry out sophisticated tests to ensure quality standards are met. NI Water has a robust testing and sampling system which sees

over 120,000 samples lifted and analysed each year. Sampling and analysis are carried out 365 days per year.
