KS2 Democracy Talk - UK/NI Parliament Education Officer

7th Oct 2024

We welcomed Fiona, the UK/NI Parliament Education Officer to school today to talk to our Key Stage 2 pupils about living in a democracy and how Parliament works.

One of the most important things about living in a democracy is having a right to vote. It is important we exercise this right when possible.

We will be thinking about casting our votes in school next week, on 18th October, to vote for two class representatives for our School Council. We can decide to stand for election and tell our classmates why we would make a good representative for our class.  We can then exercise our right to vote for our chosen classmates in true democratic fashion.

We would encourage all children who are interested to make sure they stand for election!
