Keeping Safe in P5WS

17th Nov 2021

This week as part of Anti-Bullying Week we have been having our first series of Keeping Safe lessons, in which we discussed cruelty, assertion and respect.

In our first lesson we learned how to identify cruelty as we looked at some extracts from the story James and Giant Peach, by Roald Dahl, and then discussed the cruel way that James was treated by his two aunts.

The second lesson taught us how to be assertive and stand up for ourselves. We worked in groups to produce a short role play in which we had to be assertive to someone who was trying to get us to do what they wanted.

We read a short story about Gilbert Goat in our final lesson. Gilbert was being disrespectful to his peers and his teacher. He realised that he had to change when the teacher talked to him and made him think about how he would feel if the roles were reversed.

We all learned lots this week. Why don’t you take a look below at the photographs from our role playing session?
