Girls Football Success ⚽🏆

14th May 2025

On Wednesday the Girls Football Team attended a BPSFA Tournament at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

For a lot of our girls this was their first ever experience of a football tournament, which meant that they were learning as they played.

The day started off well with a solid performance against eventual cup finalists Carniny PS, losing 1-0. As we continued to play we battled hard against the other eventual finalists Clough PS. A draw in our next game against Ballykeel PS saw us get our first point of the day. With each game the girls got better and better, working out how to play better as a team and enjoying every part of playing together. Our last 2 group games ended in narrow defeats, meaning that we qualified for the semi-final of the Shield.

The semi-final saw us get our first win of the day against Buick(B) PS as Scarlett scored direct from a corner and earned the team a 1-0 win. Onto to the final we progressed where we met Ballykeel PS for the second time.

Just like the first game, it was a very tightly contested match and the teams couldn't be separated, even after extra time! This meant we had to settle the final in penalties and even after 3 penalties each it was still even (penalties scored by Scarlett and Abigail). Our 4th penalty was scored by Skye, meaning Ballykeel had to score. Our goalkeeper Evie proved to be the hero of the day with a second penalty save, meaning Camphill took home the Shield!!

Well done to all the schools who took part today, also to the NRC students for refereeing and to the parents who came along to support.

A massive congratulations to our girls who brought home a trophy to Camphill 🏆 well done girls!
