Football Finals!

13th Nov 2018

Congratulations to the Camphill football team who have qualified for the finals of the Ballymena & District Primary Schools' 7-a-side League. This tournament has been a good one for us recently, as we finished third last year and won it two years ago. On this occasion we have won our qualifying group, guaranteeing us a place in the four team finals.

We arrived knowing we had a difficult schedule of five matches against: Carniny, Ballykeel, Broughshane, Kells and St. Colmcille's. We did well to start with two scoreless draws against the teams we thought could be our main competition, but knew we now needed to win our other matches. A slightly hesitant performance against Broughshane was rescued by an excellent individual goal from our captain Matthew. This was followed by a more confident display in a two goal victory over Kells, with Carter scoring both. By the time of our final match, Carniny had finished on nine points with Ballykeel's games also completed with a point more. So a win would top the group, a loss would see us eliminated and a draw would require a check of the regulations to sort out the second place tie! Thankfully, everyone showed cool heads and Harry and his defence never looked in danger of conceding their first goal, so when Carter and Denzil scored we were able to see the match out and qualify for the finals for the third consecutive year.

Well done boys, we now have something to look forward to later this school year.

Squad: Harry, Matthew, Tyrese, Brooklyn, Taylor, Carter, Denzil, Daniel and Ben.
