Eco Day 2026

24th Apr 2026

Eco Day 2026 is definitely one to remember in Camphill PS, not only for the range of exciting activities we got up to but the weather too!

Everyone got involved in a range of activities, including:
- RSPB based workshops- We got to search for minibeasts on our school grounds and the P6/7 Eco team helped us to identify them. We then collected a range of natural materials, such as sticks and stones, to build habitat heaps for our minibeasts.

- Sunflowers- We all got the opportunity to plant a sunflower and are looking forward to see which one grows the tallest!

- Trough boxes- Our most anticipated outcome of Eco Day each year! Our trough boxes included a range of plants and decorations, in line with our WAU themes within class. A massive thank you to Mrs Anderson, the Eco team, all teachers, classroom assistants and every individual child who worked tirelessly to prepare each little detail to make these boxes look so wonderful.

- Crisp packet flowers- KS2 classes got the opportunity to make use of all the crisp packets which we have been collecting from the beginning of the year. We made use of a total of 360 crisp packets which each had to be trimmed and washed, again a lot of hard work! These have been coupled with some butterfly feeders which P4/5 made, using sugar solution to provide a source of food.

- Colouring competition- Each class got the opportunity to enter a whole school colouring competition. This was a lovely way to wind down between all the madness and get some shade. We look forward to hearing the winners being announced soon.

Our day has included a range of other outdoor activities throughout different year groups, including time in the outdoor classroom, a visit to the playpark, planting classroom plant pots and much more!

We made the most of the weather by even eating our lunch outside...what a treat… and have a look at what our Cook, Alison made for a side salad - cucumber ladybirds and a fruit dessert - fruit flowers!

Have a look at our individual year group posts to see what we got up to in more detail. Thank you to Mrs Anderson, Miss Simpson and the Eco Team for all of their hard work.

What a great day had by all!
