CONSULTATION ON UPDATE TO NUTRITIONAL STANDARDS FOR SCHOOL FOOD

The Department of Education has launched a public consultation on proposed updates to Nutritional Standards for School Food. The consultation period will run from 30 January 2020 until 27 March 2020 inclusive. The consultation document and on-line response form can be accessed on the Department of Education website at:

You can comment on the proposals via the online response form. Alternatively, paper copies can be obtained by contacting the Department of Education:

The consultation will close for comments at 5pm on 27 March 2020. A summary of the responses to this consultation will be published on the DE website.

As the school environment can have a significant influence on the health behaviours of children and young people and in particular their food choices, it is important that all food provided in school is in keeping with up-to-date government advice on healthy eating.
