Ballymena Academy Taster Day

10th Jun 2026

Today our P6 pupils travelled to Ballymena Academy to get a taste of what school life would be like if our pupils attend the school for year 8.

We got a taste for 6 subjects throughout the day:

> PE - We played football and cricket.
> Home Economics - We learnt about the Eat Well plate, how germs spread and we also made icing for a delicious biscuit.
> Physics - We made our own rockets and tested them to see how far they could travel.
> Drama - we watched a snippet of a school performance from the Junior Drama Club and found out what it’s like to do Drama at BA.
> Biology & Chemistry - We investigated different bugs and even got to hold some, we also got to test out different  acids and alkaline.
> Mandarin - We finished our day at Mandarin where we learnt how to play lots of Mandarin style games and how to use chopsticks.

Thank you very much to the Ballymena Academy Year 10 pupils who showed us around all day and to the staff for organising a fantastic day.
