The school's first sporting occasion of the year was the 7-a-side football tournament at Ballymena Showgrounds, played for the Owen Daley Memorial Trophy. The 15 schools who participated were split into two groups with our matches being on the astroturf surface. Whilst we competed well in each match, results were somewhat disappointing with draws against Moorfields and St Brigid's but defeats versus Portglenone, Ballykeel, St Colmcille's and Carnaghts.
Hopefully, we have picked up valuable experience by seeing how other teams move into open space and pass quickly into 'danger areas', which will help us in the remainder of the season.
