⚽️ Ballymena Schools Football Finals ⚽️

26th Jan 2024

Today our senior football team competed in the finals day of the Ballymena Schools Football Tournament.

We kicked off with a semi-final against Gracehill, which proved to be a very tight game. At half-time neither team could break the deadlock and the game was tied 0-0. As the 2nd half began Camphill kept pushing and James got us off the mark with a great finish. This goal gave us the confidence to keep pushing and we added a further 3 goals, 2 from Jack and a fantastic back-heel finish from Riley. The 4-0 win booked us a place in the final.

Our opponents in the final were Ballykeel, who beat Fourtowns on penalties. We started the game well and battled hard, our effort paid off and we scored the opening goal with a calm finish from Jake after a fantastic cross from James. We took the 1-0 lead into the half-time break. We knew Ballykeel would come at us, and that’s just what they did!
Ballykeel pushed hard for a goal and played some excellent football which got them an equaliser to make it 1-1. Unfortunately, this gave them the confidence they needed and they added a 2nd goal not long after. Camphill pushed and came very close to equalising but unfortunately it wasn’t to be on the day. Ballykeel seen out the game and we finished runners-up.

Well done to all the boys involved, the 2nd place trophy you returned with was definitely earned today.
Also thank you to all the parents who showed up to support the team too.

Congratulations boys! You did us proud!
